I’m not sure how I’d never heard of them before, but recently I discovered a band by the name of BABYMETAL. In Lil Uzi Vert’s newest album, Pink Tape, they were the feature for the final track, The End. Upon hearing their voices and music style for the first time, I was instantly hooked. BABYMETAL has an extremely unique sound that can only be described as adorable heavy metal. I had the pleasure of listening to their first three albums, BABYMETAL (self-titled), METAL RESISTANCE, and METAL GALAXY. They tend to use similar sounds and instruments in each album, but their discography is nothing to be scoffed at. Some of my personal favorites so far have been songs like: Headbangeeeeerrrrrr!!!!!!!!!, Road of Resistance, YAVA!, and Distortion.
The group originates from Japan and describes their music as “Kawaii Metal.” After the groups creation in 2010, it is to absolutely no one’s surprise that they quickly started gaining traction in the music industry. As soon as 2014, they were the opening act for a multitude of Lady Gaga’s shows during her Artpop tour. Not only that, in 2014 they performed at the famous Heavy Montreal heavy metal music festival, alongside acts like Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. However, if you are interested in seeing them live their crowds, similarly to many other metal bands, are well known for having extremely tough mosh pits.
If your somebody who enjoys the metal sound, or even the “kawaii” sound, I would highly recommend checking out the band known as BABYMETAL. They are definitely a group to keep your eye on and have yet to disappoint in anything I’ve heard from them thus far.
